Photography...

I was hired to photograph a 60th anniversary party this past Monday. It was a lot of fun.... my first big paid gig, so I was a bit anxious! Anyway, that's where I've been for the past few days.... editing, editing, editing. Here are a few of random lovelies from the event! I learned a lot... for example, always keep a spare card in your pocket. And photographing under a blanket of florescent light is indeed a terrible thing!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Stay safe tonight if you are going out to celebrate the new year!

My Foyer

I have always wanted a foyer in my house, and I finally have one! Slowly but surely, I am making this house ours. I made an embroidered piece for the space that I am happy with. All of the buttons and most of the ribbon used in the piece have been passed down from my husband's family. Some of it is from his great grandmother! It's fun to sort through that vintage stash and find ribbons with the Thalheimer's tags still on! I don't know of many Virginians who even know that Thalheimer's department store used to have a sewing department!

I wonder what else I can embroider? :)

A new blog!

I used to have a blog called "I Dream of Paper." I have missed blogging over the past year or so, and I really wanted to start back again. However, I really can't say that I dream of paper so much anymore. I will admit, I used to be addicted to scrapbooking. I was totally consumed with the publishing world, and my hobby became more of a job. My love for the craft faded, and I gave up most crafting for a while. When I did want to create again, I started doing other things. Photography has become more important, and the things I create with my hands don't have much to do with paper anymore. Thus, the blog name, "I dream of more than paper." Not very creative, I know. But more like a sequel to the first! So, I hope you enjoy this journey with me! Thanks for stopping by!
